Investigation continues into woman's death

A woman whose body was discovered Monday morning in Pitt County has been identified as a 54-year-old Greenville resident, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office reported.

The body of Sharon Lynn McLawhorn, 1910 Jackson Ave., was discovered about 7:30 a.m. on Azalea Street in the Floral Park neighborhood near Pactolus Highway, the office reported.

Jackson Avenue is near the location where the body was found. The cause of the woman's death was not released, and the sheriff's office did not indicated whether foul play is suspected.

A brief news release from Chief Deputy Randy Gentry on Wednesday said the investigation is ongoing.

■ 3800 block Black Jack Simpson Road, midnight Aug. 10-8:54 a.m. Sept. 3: Rolex valued at $6,500 stolen from home by other family member; investigation ongoing.

■ 2600 block Three Sisters Lane, 5 p.m. Sept. 1-5:04 p.m. Sept. 3: 25 Ecobatt insulation tubes valued at $1,500 and one Murray push mower valued at $100 stolen; investigation ongoing.

■ 5000 block Sweetpointe Court, near Ayden, 7-8:14 p.m. Sept. 1: 22-year-old man assaulted by family member; minor injuries reported; case closed/cleared; victim refused to cooperate.

■ 3900 block NC 11 North, 7:35 p.m. Sept. 3: 75-year-old woman assaulted by other family member; no injuries reported; case closed/cleared; victim refused to cooperate.

■ 2400 block Glenn Boulevard, near Farmville, 12:51 a.m. Sept. 4: 26-year-old woman assaulted at home by boyfriend; minor injuries reported; investigation ongoing.

Break-ins, thefts

■ 823 S. Memorial Drive, 9:26-10:27 p.m. Sept. 2: side window of Harvey's Restaurant smashed to gain entry; a register drawer, a receipt printer, and a white apple iPad, all valued at $1,150, stolen and recovered; drive-through window shattered by rock and sustained $200 in damages; arrest made.

■ 2312 S. Memorial Drive, 12:30 p.m. Sept. 1-9 p.m. Sept. 2: garage door of Auto Glass Now entered by force; storage area door sustained $75 in damages and garage door sustained $500 in damages; investigation ongoing.

■ 3040 Evans St., 4:15-4:22 p.m. Sept. 2: one polo shirt, a pair of cargo pants, and a women's jacket, all valued at $86, stolen from Target and recovered; case cleared by citation.

■ 100 Stratford Road, 6 p.m. Aug. 30-2:32 p.m. Sept. 2: home entered without force; a Glock 19 with a fully loaded 15-round magazine valued at $650 stolen; investigation ongoing.

■ 2830 Gateway Drive, 10:15-10:40 a.m. Sept. 2: two ribeye steaks, a T-bone thin, two backribs, and three bags of raw shrimp, all valued at $95.87, stolen from Walmart and recovered; 40-year-old man arrested and charged with two counts of misdemeanor larceny.

■ 4600 E. 10th St., 8:05-8:12 p.m. Sept. 1: two packs of light bulbs valued at $47.76 stolen from Walmart and recovered; 19-year-old man arrested and charged with obtaining property under false pretenses.
